West Moors: Garden Privacy and a Reduction in Noise Pollution
Garden planting to improve garden privacy and reduce road noise
This client lived adjacent to a busy road in West Moors and her garden suffered from a lack of privacy, and also from noise pollution. She wanted a screen of evergreen shrubs to provide privacy, reduce the noise pollution, but also be attractive to look at.
I devised a plan and we cleared a mounded area of front garden and planted this with a mix of shrubs. I chose some with interesting foliage, that also flowered and produced berries for the birds throughout the changing seasons. Winter flowering shrubs also tend to have a much stronger scent, designed to lure in insects to pollinate the flowers.
The new planting scheme will certainly help to increase garden privacy and reduce the noise from the road next to this West Moors’ garden.
